Self-associating societies: assuaging the melancholy endemic in the malaise of modern cartographically convulsing corruptions of democracy that demonize the devotions of the people to their personal freedom to function wholeheartedly and holistically in harmony with their habitat.
Through the fog of war, and terror, and anger, the ground appears pockmarked with boundaries and barriers, with lines drawn across links and separations that scar the landscape. A desolation that spawns desperation of ever reaching a conclusion that could possibly satisfy, salve or quench the mounting wounds, losses and horrors.
But if you let the smoke clear from the battlefield you can easily see that the land is a continuous reach that stretches beneath the feet of both sides, of all sides and all the people. The only divisions between people of those they choose to hold to; they are self-described in that moment of time by the people themselves. From this understanding a simple potion to cure the ills of unrelenting and dishonored separation trickles, like a river formed from the blood of the fallen all around. Magic is laced through the potion like peppermint in a candy cane, despite appearances it doesn't actually divide the sugar and, instead, provides a deliciously different divider between continuous streams of identity.
Communities, by definition, are made up of people who share a common ownership and responsibility for their mutual welfare. Like grains of sand on a beach, communities coalesce into regions, changing associations with the wash of the waves while refining their unique place within the definition of the beach. The self-directed associations of communities with their neighbors form natural groupings that defy the rules of borders drawn around them, just as the beach defies lines drawn in its sand. As the waves of time and change wash over the landscape the shapes of regions, and greater configurations, can morph to meld with the motivations of the moment.
The boundaries of nation states have long lost their value and far outpassed their purpose. Self associating communities provide natural and peaceful resolutions to the roots of conflict around the world by empowering people to take responsibility for their own freedom; magically dissipating the imperial desires and aspirations of those far away into the carpeted tapestry of humanity spread across the surface of the globe.
Conflict and violence arrives at the centers of imposed cultural identities on the wings of the distress wrought by the very intention to include without consultation. Let the people arrive at their own desire to associate or integrate based on their own self interest and motivation. Choices made, even obvious and inescapable choices, carry with them the weight of intention and the rigors of responsibility - both of which are necessary for the harmonization of humanity.
The amassed intentions of millions exercised through the free expression of self association are more powerful a potion than the accumulated aspirations of imperial planners. It may not be magic, but it is more majestic than might.
